Airport2Park will join with Los Angeles Walks who will be sponsoring a walk around the perimeter of the Santa Monica Airport Saturday, August 6th, 2016, at 10am beginning in Clover Park (south west corner).
– Start location – Clover Park. 2600 Ocean Park Blvd, Santa Monica 90405Â
(Meet at the southwest corner of Clover Park at the fence next to Santa Monica Airport runway)Â
This will be a moderate 3.5 mile walk around the perimeter of the Santa Monica Airport where participants learn about issues and impacts relating to the airport, experience pedestrian access issues, see progress on the new 12 acre Airport Park Expansion and envision a future grand park at that location.
Michael Brodsky, a Professor at Loyola Marymount University, Member Santa Monica Spoke Steering committee, Co-Founder and Board Member of the Santa Monica Airport2Park Foundation will be the Ambassador for this walk around the entirety of Santa Monica Airport. This walk promises to present a unique view of parts of Santa Monica that most people rarely see and even fewer pedestrians actually get to walk.
The group will walk the perimeter of Santa Monica Airport (SMO) to see and learn about the current issues and community impacts relating to this facility and to hear about potential creative new proposals to transform and repurpose this property into a future grand park that will be open and accessible to all.
We invite you to come and show your support for Airport2Park with Los Angeles Walks!
The park which is served by Breeze Bike Share and Big Blue Bus Line #8, Free Parking is also available.
Don’t forget to bring a hat, sunscreen and water!
Los Angeles Walks is a pedestrian advocacy group that makes walking safe, accessible and fun for all Angelenos. The Santa Monica Airport2Park Foundation is working to transform Santa Monica Airport into a grand park for everyone.
