Nat’l Bike Challenge

In its simplest form, the Challenge is an easy logging center for you to record the miles you ride while competing with other riders all over the country. But the National Bike Challenge is so much more than that. It is a community of people who all share a love of riding bikes. With competition possibilities on the local, state and national level, it is a free and easy way to challenge yourself, colleagues and the greater community to ride more. The Challenge aims to unite 100,000 riders to pedal 75 million miles from May 1, 2016 until September 30, 2016. Now in its fifth year, the Challenge is a successful partnership between PeopleForBikes and Kimberly-Clark’s Cottonelle Products brand.

It doesn’t matter if you’re riding hundreds of miles a week or just getting back in the saddle, you are welcome in the National Bike Challenge. Now get rolling!

Santa Monica Spoke is the local community host – Our TEAM Bike Santa Monica is a collaboration with City of Santa Monica, Bike Local,  and the Santa Monica Bike Center. Together we host lots of events like our Handlebar Happy Hours throughout the challenge!

They have a pretty exciting Happy Hour for our group of hungry, thirsty bicyclists to enjoy
Happy Hour from 4 to 7 pm everyday (closed Tuesdays) 
Enjoy $6 well drinks, signature cocktails, draft beer, and selected glasses of wine
Menu, cocktails and wine list are available on the website.
Saturday and Sundays for the summer INGO will have happy hour from open to close! This could be a new local favorite?! 

No HH food specials, but here are a few of the favorite things that they suggest are “value driven and go well with happy hour drinks”

Deviled Chino Valley Ranch Eggs, goat cheese, pickled beet, toasted hazelnuts and chives* 4/6
Toni’s Spicy Pimento Cheese Dip with crudité of farmers market vegetables* 4
Kennebec French Fries, hand cut w/ sea salt* 6
Guacamole, California avocados only w/ fresh red corn chips* 5
Maggie’s Farm Simple Mix of Lettuce, avocado and vinaigrette* 5
The Nice Little Caesar Salad, sweet gem romaine, torn rustic croutons, and parmesan* 6
*Can be Made gluten free, Vegetarian, Or Vegan!! Be still my heart!

Bike parking: mostly just meters and poles in the area. We’ll check it out and report back.
