We had such a blast with Countri Bike’s Jeffrey Tanenhaus yesterday!
We met at 26th & Broadway, Hulu headquarters at the Colorado Center Park to ride with Jeffrey on the last leg of his cross country journey through Santa Monica to the finish line and the end of Route 66 at the top of the Santa Monica Pier. The energetic happy group rode on Broadway with SO MANY Breeze Bikes — and picking up more along the way!
We had a super fun finish line ribbon cutting with press, photographers and a great crowd enjoying the festivities. Jeffrey is always saying he’s met SO MANY wonderful people on his journey across the US — but nothing like this fun event that brought such a crowd — including folks from near and far that came out to help us celebrate the finish line of Jeffrey’s wonderful tour.

Santa Monica’s own Francie Stefan (2X nominee) and State Assembly Member Richard Bloom were honored with nominations this year. In past years Santa Monica Bike Center and SM Spoke’s own Cynthia Rose have received coveted nominations. In 2013 Pam O’Connor won elected official of the year!

Though not surprised – we are SO EXCITED that Santa Monica’s own Breeze Bike Share now boasts almost 5000 total members and over 1000 Annual Founding Memberships! All in just over a month and a half since launch. Quick calculations put that at a higher per capita than Citi-Bike’s comparatively huge and successful system launch in New York City!! Voting HAS ALREADY STARTED and will close on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at noon. Reader voting accounts for one half of the scoring this year, with one quarter going to SBLA staff voting, and another quarter going to a SBLA steering committee vote.
