Expo Line Santa Monica Landscaping Design Meeting

 

Join us for an overview of the landscape design plan for the Expo Line in Santa Monica!
The Exposition Construction Authority invites you to a community meeting regarding the landscaping elements proposed for the Expo Line in Santa Monica.

The community will have an opportunity to:

  • ·        Hear an overview from the design team on the proposed landscaping
  • ·        Get an update on construction activities and the Colorado streetscape
  • ·        Learn about the tree relocation and replacement plan
  • ·        Provide input and feedback

We have new bike facilities going in all over the city. Bike corrals, buffered bike lanes, sharrows, bike lane/ sharrow combos (climbing lanes) on 17th and more planned. Plus more every day! Have you seen something new going in? Let us know so we can share it!

Here is a first preview of what we are seeing. And more to come!

Santa Monica Airport Community Process

What are your thoughts regarding the future of Santa Monica Airport?
The City would like you to tell them by participating in a small group discussion with 8-12 community members. Input from these groups will help shape the city’s plans for the airport campus.

The Planning and Community Development Department invites you to the fourth Bergamot Area Plan (www.bergamotplan.net) workshop, which will explore how Community Benefits can help to achieve the vision for high-quality neighborhoods, walkability, open space and daily needs.

Please join us on February 7th at Virginia Avenue Park’s Thelma Terry Room from 7:00PM – 9:00PM to discuss:

  • §  What is a Community Benefit: understand the difference between baseline components required for new development and “benefits” that are desired by the community.
  • §  Area Needs and Priorities: review previous community discussion about the Community Benefit priorities for the Bergamot Transit Village and Mixed-Use Creative districts and provide your input to update them.

Your input on these concepts is needed to design a methodology for supporting local benefits that serve the Santa Monica community.

TWO IMPORTANT COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

1.  COLORADO ESPLANADE, Saturday January 21st
and the
2.  DOWNTOWN SPECIFIC PLAN, Thursday January 26th

 

1.   COLORADO ESPLANADE

Please join us SATURDAY, JANUARY 21 at 10:00AM at THE KEN EDWARDS CENTER, 1527 4thStreet to view the new complete street concept created by the highly-acclaimed landscape architecture team from Peter Walker Partners, and to get your input on important design components.  Please join usto share your thoughts on:

§  NEW STREET CONFIGURATION: See the proposed new multi-modal street layout including widened sidewalks, new bicycle lanes, and  reconfigured lanes and intersections to achieve optimal flow for all users.

§  CONCEPT DESIGN: Give us your thoughts on the proposed lighting, paving, art and landscaping concepts and other amenities that will make the Esplanade an exciting and memorable Santa Monica experience.

The re-imagined Colorado Esplanade will serve the high volume of visitors to Santa Monica’s beaches, Downtown and Civic Center. It will connect these districts, and guide visitors and residents to destinations along a comfortable landscaped pathway.  Come and be part of the planning of this important and exciting City project.

2.   DOWNTOWN SPECIFIC PLAN

Please join us THURSDAY, JANUARY 26 at 7:00PM – 9:30PM at the CIVIC AUDITORIUM, EAST WING, 1855 MAIN STREET to discuss preliminary ideas for the Downtown Specific Plan and results from the visioning process for the City-owned property at Arizona Avenue between 4th & 5th Streets.  Please join us to share your thoughts on:

§  DOWNTOWN SPECIFIC PLAN: Introduction of the consultant team and the emerging strategy for realizing the LUCE vision for the Downtown District.

§  OPPORTUNITY SITE: Review preliminary concepts for the reuse of the City-owned property and learn about economic feasibility and mix of uses.

Your input will help to create the future of the Downtown Specific Plan.
