Our Hearts are with you this Holiday and our Neighbors Impacted by the California Wildfires

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the Camp and Woolsey fires. That includes those who have lost loved ones and homes, as well as those enduring the smoky air across much of the state.

The California Community Foundation’s Wildlife Relief Fund is a trustworthy place to donate for a wide range of fire relief. They also vet and recommend relief efforts in Northern and Southern CA, and offer general guidance on how best to help during disasters

TODAY and EVERYDAY

Cars drivers please GIVE 3FT (or more) for Safety as you pass people on bikes and scooters!
We All Thank You!

Election Results are rolling in …..

Some great news for state transportation funding, but some tough news for housing.

Together we are stronger —
Your votes are the reason we can celebrate this victory that continues the momentum to fix roads with the 2018 state transportation budget. This current state budget has put a greater proportion of funding into transit, walking, and biking —more than any previous state transportation budget. #WIN

Please Vote NO on Prop 6

#NOonProp6

Click image for more info on why #NoProp6

Prop 6 threatens thousands of jobs, your public transit system, your safety when you walk and bike, our environment, and our progress toward transportation equity. Please join us, the California Bicycle Coalition and the many local bicycle advocacy organizations that have taken a position, along with hundreds of other organizations across the state in saying no to Prop 6.

Just as we are making progress in our campaign to ensure the state always takes bike and pedestrian safety into account in transportation funding, Proposition 6 threatens to tear it all apart. If it passes, Prop 6 will cancel $5.2 billion in funding for desperately needed transportation projects repairing roads across California—thousands of them already underway. Thanks to this funding, the 2018 state transportation budget put a greater proportion of funding into transit, walking, and biking than any previous state transportation budget.
#NoProp6 for equity in transportation and a greener, more sustainable #California!
You can support #CleanAir #CompleteStreets by voting 11/6!

Santa Monica leads again with Clean, Renewable Energy!

100% Renewable Energy will be Santa Monica’s Default!

It’s Unanimous! On October 23rd, the Santa Monica City Council voted unanimously to have 100% renewable energy be the automatic option for all local energy customers.
Santa Monica is a member of the Clean Power Alliance (CPA), a community choice energy program that will soon deliver renewable energy to customers across Southern California.  CPA is offering 100%, 50% and 36% to customers starting in 2019.  Each member agency chooses the default tier of renewable energy for its constituents. With councils unanimous vote last evening, – as staff reported – all Santa Monica residents will enjoy 100% renewable energy lighting up their homes and electrifying our world — local businesses to follow.

In Santa Monica, beginning in February 2019, our energy default will now be 100% renewable!

Thank you to Santa Monica for being a part of the Clean Power Alliance of Southern California, to implement community choice aggregation, so that decarbonizing our electrical grid will be the new normal as we advance carbon-neutrality and strengthen our resilience and commitment to our community and the environment.
The latest news from the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change alerts us that we have twelve years to stave off increasing greenhouse gas emissions in order for humanity and Mother Earth to have the opportunity to heal and thrive. Santa Monica’s 100% renewable energy choice is another bold, confident and wise choice for a healthier more sustainable and resilient future.
You can view the video of the council decision to inspire and feel empowered that our leadership is committed to a more energy resilient and environmentally sustainable future.
