Free Scooter Skills Event with Lyft

FREE EVENT: All are welcome!

Join us for a day at the beach to learn more about Lyft Scooters and shared micro-mobility transportation options. Santa Monica Spoke’s certified instructors join the Lyft education and outreach team to be on hand to help boost your skills at this fun and free event!

Interested in learning more about scooters and road safety?
Join Lyft and Santa Monica Spoke at the Santa Monica Bike Campus Sunday August 11th for the first in a series of scooter safety events.

Find out more about scooters and shared micro-mobility options. Learn the rules of the road, your rights and responsibilities, and new safety skills and techniques in a safe off road environment.

*Scooters are allowed on the campus for this event only. The beach is a e-scooter NO RIDE ZONE.  

We’ll also be giving out helmets & refreshments for riders!

Interactive Safety Map – add your concerns!

Calling all road users: people walking, biking, driving cars or scooters! The City of Santa Monica launched an interactive map to provide input on where our communities problem areas are as we studying how to best improve road safety in Santa Monica. We shared this at our last meeting and as part of the Wilshire Blvd. Safety Study outreach. We’ve had some great input – have you given yours? We are asking you to use this new interactive map tool to report any safety concerns you may have through out all of Santa Monica.

Wilshire Safety Study Community Meeting: June 8th

Community Engagement Public Meeting 1

The City of Santa Monica is conducting a roadway safety analysis for Wilshire Boulevard between Ocean Ave. and Centinela Ave. We want your help to identify safety issues and concerns!

Please join us and attend this first community workshop on June 8th at Reed Park Auditorium (1133 7th Street, Santa Monica). The meeting is open house format, so drop-in anytime.

In 2019 there will be a series of community engagement opportunities and outreach to help inform this project. Want to get involved? Please sign-up for project information at the weblink (below). Stay tuned for the second of these two larger community meetings this fall – 2019.

For those who can’t make it, there will be opportunities to provide comments online, or you can e-mail directly at safe.wilshire@smgov.net.

This effort is part of the citywide safety initiative called Take the Friendly Road.

Tomorrow: Bike Ride with City Manager to Celebrate Green Lanes!

Thursday AND Friday #BikeToWorkDay pit stops in Santa Monica…… but the celebrating continues tomorrow May 18th with a Bike Ride to celebrate #BikeMonthSM and our newest Green Lanes!

Grab your bicycles or get and head to City Hall, 1685 Main St., at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 as we join City Manager Rick Cole for a bike ride on the newly painted lanes. All are welcome.
• Children should be capable of street riding or in a bike seat or trailer.
• No bike? or Want to give Breeze a try? – for this event you can get 
FREE RIDE TIME on BREEZE! Limited to supplies on hand.

Installation of the green lanes advances the mode shift and Vision Zero components of the City’s Mobility Strategic Goal by further implementing the Bike Action Plan, which was developed with extensive community outreach and support. Santa Monica Spoke is partnering with City of Santa Monica to organize a fun bike ride to highlight some of our newest green lanes.
