Self-Guided Tour of Santa Monica’s Vintage / Resale Shops just in time for the Holidays! Buy /Bike LOCAL

Reuse is the highest form of recycling.  Get ready for a day of vintage shopping that’s fun, environmentally sustainable and affordable!  The Buy Local SM Committee has crbike_local_stickereated a fun self-guided tour of Santa Monica’s vintage and thrift stores (download below).  You can do the tour by bike, foot, public transit or a combo of the above!

Here’s an idea of what to you may find on your excursion: designer vintage handbags (think Chanel, LV + Coach!), jewelry & accessories (tres chic!), scarves to reuse as gift wrapping, antique silverware & china to dress up the holiday dinner table, beautiful coffee table books, vases that go perfectly with a bouquet of fresh flowers & holiday cd’s & puzzles for everyone to enjoy together!  We’ve also included a few shops that feature gift items made with reused products.

Go Public Ice Cream Ride

They’re doing it again, because WHY NOT!?!

The first stop will be the Portland transplant, Salt & Straw Ice Cream! Now open in Venice, located on Abbot Kinney. Salt & Straw features ice cream flavors you never knew were possible and it also showcases a slew of specialty flavors that change every month which are co-created and inspired by local chef’s, restaurants and establishments. The final stop will be their neighbors’ down the street, Kippy’s Ice Cream Shop! Kippy’s is unique in that it specializes in organic, non-dairy ice cream; healthy and delicious. Their ice cream is made by hand, daily using fresh raw coconut sweetened with honey. Yum! Kippy’s has been kind enough to offer every one on the ride a “yogi” sized scoop of ice cream ON THE HOUSE!! *This will be a 3-4 mile ride round-trip through the streets and neighborhoods of Santa Monica and Venice. Family friendly and fun for all ages (youngsters + toddlers recommended to ride with a parent). The ride will start and end at the PUBLIC Bikes Santa Monica store location.
