Parks Day, Come Play + SM Spoke Picnic Ride!

Saturday, February 25th

We are putting it ALL TOGETHER for a day of Celebrating and Bike Riding!

The official Parks Day, Come Play! starts at 10am with Grand Opening Ceremonies at the new Ishihara Park located at 2909 Exposition Blvd. in Santa Monica. Ishihara Park was named for George Ishihara, a long-time resident of Santa Monica’s Pico Neighborhood and a World War II veteran. The park is designed by the prominent landscape architecture firm Mia Lehrer + Associates who will be conducting group tours at the new park.

Saturday, February 25th
Festivities begin at 10:00am at Ishihara Park (we’ll here too!)

Bike ride gathers at 11:00am at Gandara Park and will return to Ishihara Park after stops at Los Amigos and Reed Park Re-Opening Celebrations.

Our ride activities will start at the Dedication Celebrations at Gandara Park (formerly Stewart Street Park) at 11am with the February Ride with the Mayor to Los Amigos Park our 1st stop. After picnic snacks and a visit at the Re-Opening Celebration at Los Amigos Park we’ll head over to the Re-Opening Celebration at Reed Park for more exploring. After we hang out there for a bit we’ll head back to the Grand Opening Celebrations Ishihara Park.

Pack your own picnic snacks or join us - we’ll be packing lemonade, fruit, PB&J’s and other yummy stuff to share. We always aim for zero waste events – please bring reusable cups and plates – napkins will be provided.

Please click HERE for questions or to RSVP so we can bring enough for everyone to share!

Santa Monica installs a Real-Time Bike Counter!

Real-Time Bike Information Hits Main Street Wednesday December 20th, 2016

New bike counter will track bikers as they pass City Hall
north and southbound

img_3730SANTA MONICA, Calif. – A real-time bike counter is being installed on Main Street in front of City Hall this week to better understand the number of people getting around the city on bike while also displaying to bikers that their choice to bike counts! The counter is connected to sensors in the green lanes on Main Street, both northbound and southbound. This fun visual feedback encourages cycling and is part of the GoSaMo campaign to equip, excite, and inform everyone of new mobility options.

JOIN US TO CELEBRATE!

WHEN: Wednesday, December 19, noon – 12:30 p.m.
WHERE: 1685 Main Street, near Breeze Bike Share Station (before Main St. bridge)
WHO: Mayor Ted Winterer and City Manager Rick Cole will join Santa Monica Spoke, Climate Action Santa Monica, and Breeze Bike Share for a short “bike counter” welcome event.
