May is Bicycle Month

May 7th, Santa Monica Festival

To kick it off we had a great day at the Santa Monica Festival with a Bicycle Exhibition.  We had 33 bikes along with assor

ted accessories to illustrate the wonderful variety and versatility of the bicycle.  We had cargo bikes and folding bikes, and almost everything in between.  We had bags, baskets and panniers along with trailers for kids and cargo. We’ll have some pictures up to show you soon.

I’d like to take a minute to give a very special thanks to all who participated and contributed to making this event such a success.

Thanks to our Spoke committee members who brought the bikes to the show and volunteered their time- with a special thanks to Barbara Filet, Kent Strumpell, Gary Kavanagh and Bryan Beretta who along with me spent the entire day there talking about bikes and the cities upcoming Bicycle Action Plan while answering questions and providing information to festival attendees. It was a long day but we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

To Steven Carre from Bike Effect who gave a great talk on Bike Fit to a captured audience.

To our friends at the local bike shops, Bike Effect, Cynergy and Helen’s Cycles who lent us bikes.  Thank you for your support!!  You all truly help make this event great.

Thank you Colleen, Gilbert and Steve for letting us display your bikes once you arrived at the festival.

And to Asuka and Lumo thank you so much for your help shuffling bikes to and from the festival – it was such a help!!!
