The LA Marathon is this Sunday, March 20 and if it’s anything like last year traffic here in Santa Monica will be a MESS. Â One solution to getting around this weekend, whether enjoying the festivities or just going about your normal weekend activities is on your trusty 2 wheeled vehicle – your bicycle.
We were happy to get an email from the city detailing the extra bike parking that will be available on race day. Â On Sunday the city will be operating 2 free bike valets downtown as well as the regular valet at the Main Street Farmers Market .
2 Downtown locations 7am to 5pm
Broadway at Ocean
In front of City Hall – 1685 Main Street
Main Street Farmers Market, 9am to 1pm (on Main St. south of Ocean Park)
Additionally note the following bike access
- Main St between Pico Blvd. and Colorado will be open to bikes (but closed to cars
- Bikes can cross the Intersection on Ocean Ave. at Pico

Cyclist ride the LA Marathon route.  Meet at 3am ride starts at 4am under starry skies (we hope) on roads closed to traffic.  More info at Midnightridazz
I may do the Crashing the Marathon ride in the early morning, but it looks like possible chance of rain.
