Expo Line Service Alert Feb 24th-26th

Expo Line Maintenance This Weekend

Beginning Friday (2/24) at 9:00 PM, through close of service on Sunday (2/26), there will be no train service to the following Metro Expo Line stations, due to scheduled maintenance:

  • Downtown Santa Monica
  • 17th St/SMC
  • 26th St/Bergamont
  • Expo/Bundy
  • Expo/Sepulveda

During this time crews will be conducting repairs and upgrades on this stretch of the Expo Line.

While this weekend’s work is in effect, local and express Metro Bus shuttles will replace train service between Downtown Santa Monica and Expo/Sepulveda Station.

  • All westbound trains will stop at Expo/Sepulveda and turn back towards downtown Los Angeles. Metro shuttles will be available at Expo/Sepulveda for continued westbound service.
  • All customers heading eastbound may board shuttles at Downtown Santa Monica station for service to Expo/Sepulveda Station. From there they can continue on the Expo Line towards Downtown Los Angeles.
  • Shuttle service is free if transferring from the Expo Line.

Additionally, Big Blue Bus Route 7 and Rapid 7 service both Downtown Santa Monica and Expo/Sepulveda Stations

Metro Bike Survey: Riding with Buses

Metro Needs Input from People Who Ride Bicycles

You are cordially invited to share your views in this 10-minute survey conducted by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). The purpose of this survey is to hear first-hand from people who ride bicycles in LA County about their experiences while sharing the road with buses. The intent is to learn how bikes and buses interact with each other while traveling down the road; how street markings, signs, and bike lane designs help or detract from the safety and comfort of people who ride bicycles. The survey is not related to using the bike racks on buses or riding the bus itself.

Your opinions and feedback will help Metro, the County and cities throughout the Southland design streets that serve the needs of people who ride bicycles and transit for many years to come.

They want to reach as many people who ride bicycles as possible! Please forward this along to those you feel will be interested.
They will be raffling an iPad and 3 Bike Metro Prize Packs to survey participants.

Take the survey today and thank you for your participation!

Laemmle Eva Hesse Movie

Just Opened
EVA HESSE

Eva Hesse (1936-1970) was one of America’s foremost postwar artists. Her pioneering sculptures, using latex, fiberglass, and plastics, helped establish the post-minimalist movement. Dead from a brain tumor at age 34, she had a mere decade-long career that, despite its brevity, was dense with complex, intriguing works that defy easy categorization. EVA HESSE, the first feature-length appreciation of her life and work, makes superb use of the artist’s voluminous journals, her correspondence with close friend and mentor Sol LeWitt, and contemporary as well as archival interviews with fellow artists (among them Richard Serra, Robert Mangold, Dan Graham) who recall her passionate, ambitious, tenacious personality. Art critic Arthur Danto has written that her work is “full of life, of eros, even of comedy…each piece vibrates with originality and mischief.” The documentary captures these qualities, but also the psychic struggles of an artist who, in the downtown New York art scene of the 1960s, was one of the few women to make work that was taken seriously in a field dominated by male pop artists and minimalists.

Laemmle The Meddler Movie
THE MEDDLER

With a new iPhone, an apartment near the Grove, and a comfortable bank account left to her by her beloved late husband, Marnie Minervini has happily relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be near her daughter Lori, a successful (but still single) screenwriter, and smother her with motherly love. But when the dozens of texts, unexpected visits, and conversations dominated by unsolicited advice force Lori to draw strict personal boundaries, Marnie finds ways to channel her eternal optimism and forceful generosity to change the lives of others – as well as her own – and find a new purpose in life
