SMMoA, 2525 Michigan Ave, Bergamot Art Complex
6:00pm – 8:00pm (6-7pm Happy Hour, 7-8pm Screening)

FREE bike-in* screening of Bogotá Change, a fast-paced portrait of a city on the move.
Facebook event here.

SMMoA will be hosting a happy hour from 6-7pm and the screening will be from 7-8pm.
The film chronicles the terms of Mayors Antanas Mockus and Enrique Peñalosa, who proactively transformed Bogotá, Colombia in less than 10 years. From mimes in place of traffic police to a burst of bicycle paths and green spaces, these unorthodox officials championed the use of creative solutions for complex social problems. The film also touches on the original ciclovías, just ahead of the return of Los Angeles’ CicLAvia on October 5. Mockus served as mayor of Bogotá from 1995 to 1997 and again from 2001 to 2003, while Peñalosa was mayor from 1998 to 2001.

This screening is presented in conjunction with Citizen Culture: Artists and Architects Shape Policy, on view in the Museum’s Main Gallery from September 13 through December 13, 2014. Citizen Culture celebrates the power of art to spark dialogue, create new modes of civic engagement, and transform the laws by which cities and citizens are governed.

*Biking to this event is not required! There is plenty of parking available in the Bergamot Station lot.

Generous support for this program has been provided by the The Neeley Family Fund at The San Diego Foundation.
