An idea we presented to the city early last year during our roundtable meetings with then Assistant City Manager Jennifer Phillips and other city staffers including Lucy Dyke and Sam Morrissey.  This is great news!

CITY OF SANTA MONICA: RFP – Artist Designed Bicycle Racks

In RFP on March 17, 2011 at 10:34 pm

The City of Santa Monica’s Public Art Program is seeking artists to design and create functional bicycle racks to be integrated into the Ocean Park Boulevard “Green Streets” Project.  This is an exciting opportunity for artists—both experienced and emerging, located in Los Angeles County. We will select two (2) concepts to fabricate for this project and up to six (6) more concepts to develop into a final, fabrication-ready design, with the intention of creating limited editions (not to exceed 5) for use in future City projects.  Artists whose designs have been selected for the limited editions for future City projects will receive a $2,000 stipend to develop a final design suitable for fabrication.

DEADLINE: Wednesday, May 4, 2011
